How limb generation happens. Using a lung fish model to describe the deep roots of the process.

In this just released PNAS publicaton, the study of genes involved in limb regeneration in the Polypterus fish the genetic program that regulates the process was described. This work is fundamental for the understanding of an early process that does not occur in reptiles, birds, and mammals. This work was carried out as an ITV collaboration with colleagues from UFPA, Museu Goeldi, The Natural History Museum in Berlin, and Michigan State Unv. Click here or on the image for the paper.
